Food and Health tips

During flood conditions, natural gas, electricity and other utilities may be down. Most food storage refrigerators are electric, and during floods, are often down for hours or days. Discard foods needing refrigeration (milk, eggs, meat, puddings, fish, canned hams labeled "Keep Refrigerated"), if the refrigerator has been down for more than six hours, or if the food has been warmed to above 45°F for more than 3 hours. These and other ready-to-eat foods will not be cooked before eating and could be dangerous. Where power is expected to be reinstated within minutes, keep the refrigerator or freezer door closed as much as possible.,,,,,,,,,,
